The clever author has chosen a remarkable subject matter and really explains much of what is unexplainable but happening within our society. I've had so many polite but awkward moments with people lately where I politely resend my passive acceptance of their politics.
I try to wrap my mind around the results of this election. And even if the recount overturned the results and the outcome were different- i am not sure of how much it would matter. That's just a difficult situation for me.
It's difficult not because I don't agree with any of the positions that Trump takes. Not because I cannot fathom a way in which any of Trumps plans are going to benefit ANYONE I care about. The reason I'm floored and upset about the results of this election is that like more than 40% of people probably legitimately voted for this guy! I'm not trying to be funny or sarcastic here. I'm struggling to overcome disbelief. I'm so thankful for Jill Stein. She keeps gently reminding that she doesn't believe it will change the results nor is that the intent. But that the American people need to know that the election process in this country is not a sham. And frankly I think we need that verification right now. It is very difficult for me to see how anyone could vote for that guy. I mean the only elections I recall my whole life you choose between one person or the other and the priorities of each politician vary but ultimately the goal is always the same to work for the good of our society and have a safe and happy place in which to live our lives. The disagreement is historically about whose plan to accomplish that is better and which priorities are more important to the American people at a particular juncture in history. Never before has there even been a presidential candidate that I believed was not acting or even thinking with the interests of Americans in his heart. I have a hard time with the values that Trump represents and I don't understand how anyone else could accept, dismiss, or endorse him as a candidate for president. He's got so much malice and such incredible conflicts of interest alone that he's terrifying. But Beyond that he as a human being role models a horrible message to the world about who we are and to our own people about what greatness looks like. It does make me feel a little like shaving my head or getting a lime green Mohawk or something. Because I want my whole life to be a protest against this situation. I don't want any confusion that I will assimilate to destruction of our planet, any infringement upon my rights or the rights of others, and I'm not interested in living in the "Hunger Games" world. As we slide toward a new year I do not feel cause for celebration. 2017 feels like a looming and uninvited suitor one would try to ignore.
